BILL THATCHER, appointed as More To Life Managing Director in November 2016, was a member of Ed Groody & Associates, Inc., an organization-development consulting firm based in Knoxville, Tennessee. Bill has 30 years of executive-level experience assisting regional, national, and international organizations to successfully realize their missions. His special expertise is in developing effective management teams and using international bodies of volunteers. He has worked in more than 45 countries with particular emphasis on long-range, participatory communication and management planning strategies for multi-national staff, program design and evaluation, community building, and adult education.
Prior to his work with Ed Groody & Associates, Inc., he spent seven years delivering programs for prisoners in the U.S.A. – in state and federal prisons – as well as training psychologists, treatment specialists, and educators working in prisons.
Bill is one of a handful of individuals who trained and worked with M. Scott Peck, M.D., bestselling author of The Road Less Travelled and developer of the innovative group and team-building process Community Building. For five years Bill was President of the nonprofit started by Dr. Peck, The Foundation for Community Encouragement. He is also co-author of The Power of Acceptance: Building Meaningful Relationships in a Judgmental World. Dr. Peck wrote the foreword and epilogue to this book.
Bill lives with his spouse, Jane Silzer, in Seattle, Washington. They have two grown children and five very special grandchildren. In March 2016, Bill participated in his first More To Life Weekend.
